June Byrd, Licensed Midwife and Owner

junebyrd June realized after the homebirth of her second child in 1980 that she wanted to become a midwife. However, due to the fact that Midwifery in the State of Florida was illegal, June chose a different profession in care management. June became a Licensed Practical Nurse and since 1983, she has worked as a nurse in everything from Geriatrics to Labor and Delivery. Many years later, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a licensed midwife by enrolling in the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery. While in school she did an externship in Jamaica, which really made a huge impact on her perceptions of laboring women.
Since becoming a midwife, June has owned a successful homebirth practice and has been a preceptor for FSTM students over the past six years.
June is passionately committed to all of the women who come to the Birth Center and wants to give them the support and knowledge they need, and the compassionate care that they deserve. June concludes that, "Birth only happens once for each baby: let us help you make it the most rewarding, powerful, and special birth you could possibly have."
