Sarah Ann Baldwin, LM, CPM
Staff Midwife

Sarah first applied to midwifery school in 1986, the day the school was forced to close enrollment because Florida had made out-of-hospital births illegal.  After the law was overturned in 1992, Sarah joined the third class at the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery, graduating and receiving her license in 2000.

Since graduation, Sarah has had a home birth practice and has managed a birth center in Sarasota (2004-06).  She has traveled throughout Florida, the Caribbean, and South America, enabling families to have home births in places where local midwives were not available.  Since 2000, Sarah has personally delivered over 500 babies.

Sarah’s affinity for water has made her appreciate the effectiveness and gentleness of water births.  Sarah is a certified aqua natal instructor and teaches aqua natal classes to pregnant women, fostering mothers’ well being and helping them communicate with their unborn in their own watery world.

When Sarah’s not at work, she’s in the water with family and friends—snorkeling the springs, sailing the gulf, and visiting her favorite dolphin pods around Florida.
